Getting started

What is Learn to Speak Easy?

Learn to Speak Easy helps you practise speaking without preparation. You get a random prompt, answer it out loud for up to two minutes, and get feedback on how it went.

It’s built for the moments you can’t rehearse: an interview question, being asked your view in a meeting, Table Topics at a speaking club, or speaking English at work. The generators on this website give you prompts and a timer with no sign-up. The app records your answer and gives you feedback.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Learn to Speak Easy works in your web browser at app.learntospeakeasy.com, on a phone or a computer.

Apps for iPhone and Android are on the way, and your account will work in them too.

What do I need to use it?

A device with a microphone, and somewhere you’re happy to talk out loud for two minutes.

Up-to-date browsers can record audio. If your microphone won’t start, the app says what to try, and you can still practise without recording.

How long does it take?

About three minutes: up to two minutes to speak, then a minute to read your feedback. One prompt is a whole session.

Is it for nervous speakers?

Yes, especially. Nobody else hears you, and a two‑minute answer is small enough to try today.

The first few answers can feel awkward. That’s normal, and it fades with short, regular practice.

Does it work in other languages?

Not yet. The app listens in English only, and your feedback is written in British English. Plenty of the prompts suit people practising English for work, study or interviews.

What is impromptu speaking?

Speaking with little or no time to prepare: an unexpected interview question, being asked your view in a meeting, or a toast you didn’t know you’d give. The skill is having a simple shape ready and staying calm enough to use it, and it grows with short, regular practice.

Practising

How are the prompts chosen?

At random, from over 2,000 prompts: Table Topics in 10 themes and 4 levels, from easy to expert, and interview questions in five sets.

In the app you can narrow it down by theme, level or interview set on any plan, and it avoids repeating prompts you’ve already answered.

How long should I talk for?

Up to two minutes. Choose one minute, a minute and a half or two minutes before you start, and aim to finish between the green and red lights, the same as an answer at a speaking club. After red you have 30 seconds to finish your sentence, then the clock stops by itself.

What if my mind goes blank?

Keep talking about the question itself, or pause and start with one simple point. Recovering is part of the skill you’re practising.

A simple shape helps: make your point, give a reason, tell one short example, then come back to your point. If an answer really goes wrong, you can start over before you save it.

Can I listen back to my answers?

Yes. Your answers are saved to your History, where you can play them back and see your feedback again, on Free or Pro.

When does my free prompt reset?

At midnight where you are. On Free, your prompt for the day counts once you save a finished answer, so starting over doesn’t use it up.

Feedback

What does the feedback tell me?

Your pace in words a minute, how many filler words you used, how much of the two minutes you used, and one thing to try next time.

Pro adds full coaching on every answer: a short summary, how your answer was built (opening, development and close), what worked, what to work on next, and your transcript with every filler word marked.

How does the feedback work?

OpenAI turns your recording into text, then Anthropic’s Claude writes your feedback from that text.

We ask your permission before your first answer is analysed, and you can withdraw it in Settings at any time.

How accurate is it?

Accurate enough to spot patterns, not perfect. Background noise, very quiet speech or a strong echo can mean some words are missed or misheard.

Treat the numbers as a guide, and watch how they change over a few weeks rather than judging a single answer.

Is the feedback written by a person?

No. It’s written by AI, following the guidance we give it on what makes a clear, confident answer.

Plans and paying

Is Learn to Speak Easy free?

Yes. One prompt a day, with feedback on your pace, filler words and timing plus one tip, is free for as long as you like. You don’t need a card.

What does Pro add?

Unlimited prompts every day, and full coaching on every answer: a short summary, your structure, what worked, what to work on next and your transcript.

Everything else, including your recordings, History, filters and favourites, is on Free too.

How much is Pro?

£6.99 a month or £49.99 a year in the UK, and €7.99 or €54.99 in euros, both including VAT. In US dollars it’s $7.99 or $54.99, plus sales tax where it applies.

Anywhere else, checkout shows the price in your own currency, with any local tax, before you pay. Paying yearly costs over 40% less than paying monthly.

How does the free week work?

Every new account gets Pro free for its first 7 days. You don’t give any card details, so there’s nothing to cancel.

When the week ends you carry on with Free, one prompt a day. Upgrade from Settings in the app whenever you like.

How do I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Upgrade from Settings in the app on the web.

Payment is handled by Onelink, the checkout service from Stripe, which also works out any tax and sends your receipts. Paying in the iPhone and Android apps will come when they launch.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel in Settings, or in your Onelink account, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. You won’t be charged again.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, if you change your mind within 14 days of first paying. Cancel in Settings and email hello@learntospeakeasy.com, or ask Onelink support, and you’ll get a refund, less a fair amount for the time you’ve used.

After that, we don’t refund unused time, except where the law requires it. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Yes. Open billing from Settings in the app, where you can change your plan or your card.

Do you offer discounts for clubs, classes or teams?

Not yet. If you run a club, class or team and would like to use Learn to Speak Easy together, get in touch and tell us what you need.

Privacy and your recordings

Who can hear my recordings?

Only you. Your recordings are private to your account.

To create your feedback, your recording goes to OpenAI to be turned into text, and the text goes to Anthropic to write the feedback. Neither company uses it to train its models, and each keeps it for no more than 30 days.

Do you use my recordings to train AI?

No. We never use your recordings or their transcripts to train AI models, and neither do the companies that process them for us.

How long do you keep my recordings?

Until you delete them. They stay in your History whether you’re on Free or Pro. You can delete any one of them there, with its transcript and feedback, and deleting your account deletes them all.

Can other people see my practice?

No. Your answers, recordings, feedback and profile are private. Nobody else using the app can see them.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings and choose Delete account. Your recordings, transcripts and feedback are deleted straight away.

Backups clear within 30 days, and we keep billing records for six years because the law requires it. Can’t sign in? Email us from the address on your account.

Can I download my data?

Yes, on the web. In Settings, choose Download my data for a copy of your profile, your practice and your feedback.

Table Topics and speaking clubs

What is Table Topics?

Table Topics is the impromptu speaking part of a Toastmasters club meeting. Someone asks a question nobody has seen in advance, and the person chosen speaks for one to two minutes, with green, amber and red lights showing the time. You can practise the same format on your own with our Table Topics Generator.

How long should a Table Topics answer be?

One to two minutes. Green shows at one minute, amber at a minute and a half, and red at two minutes. Aim to finish between green and red. Shorter settings here scale the lights to match.

How do you answer a Table Topics question?

Take a breath, pick one angle, then make your point, give a reason, tell one short example and come back to your point. One example is plenty for two minutes. How to answer Table Topics walks through it with examples.

Can I use your prompts at my club?

Yes, use them freely at your meetings. A mention of Learn to Speak Easy is always appreciated.

What does the Topicsmaster do?

The Topicsmaster chooses the questions, introduces the session, calls on each speaker and keeps things moving. It’s a good first role for newer members.

Do I need to join a club to practise?

No. You can practise the same format on your own with the Table Topics Generator, out loud, as often as you like. A club adds a live audience and feedback from people.

How do you start a Table Topics answer?

Repeat the question in your own words, then say your answer in one sentence. It buys you a moment to think and tells the audience exactly what you’re answering.

Is it OK to be funny?

Yes, if it comes naturally. A light answer that still makes a point often lands better than a serious one that doesn’t.

Is Learn to Speak Easy part of Toastmasters?

No. Learn to Speak Easy is independent and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Toastmasters International. Table Topics is their name for this part of a meeting.

Interview practice

How long should interview answers be?

Most answers land well at one to two minutes. “Tell me about yourself” works at about 60 to 90 seconds, and a competency (STAR) example can run to about two minutes. Longer than that and interviewers start to lose the thread.

What is a competency-based interview?

It’s the UK name for an interview built on questions about what you’ve really done, usually starting “Tell me about a time when…”. Interviewers score your examples against the skills in the job description. Most people answer with the STAR shape.

What is the STAR method?

A shape for “Tell me about a time” questions: the Situation, your Task, the Action you took and the Result. It stops answers drifting and makes your part clear. Spend most of your time on the Action.

Is this like Google Interview Warmup?

In some ways. Google retired Interview Warmup in 2026. This tool gives you real questions and a timer for free, and the Learn to Speak Easy app records your answer and gives you feedback on your pace, filler words and timing.

Are these real NHS and Civil Service questions?

They’re practice questions written in the style of those interviews, built around the NHS values and the Civil Service behaviours. We aren’t connected to the NHS or the Civil Service.

Is Google Interview Warmup still available?

No. Google retired Interview Warmup in 2026, and its old web address no longer opens the tool.

Is there a free alternative to Interview Warmup?

Yes. Our interview practice tool gives you real questions and a timer for free, with no sign-up, and the Learn to Speak Easy app gives you free feedback on one answer a day, covering your pace, filler words and timing.

What should I look for in an interview practice tool?

Questions like the ones you’ll face, a timer so you learn what two minutes feels like, and feedback you can act on. Being able to practise daily matters more than any single feature.
